Hi! My name is Robert and I'm a Chimpaholic ;D (Well, almost..)
First of all, probably 90% of my subject matter is static in nature and I'm usually not hard pressed to keep shooting so as not to miss a moment. I'm just a Hobbyist/Amateur still learning and using the camera to help me learn.
I use the 2 sec. review feature and always set it to display a large real histogram and a tiny thumbnail of the image with any blinking highlights/shadows so I can make a quick but decisive evaluation of the exposure. Sometimes 2 sec. is twice what is needed..
My A1/A2 allowed me to do this discreetly due to the EVF. But now I'm just a Chimp!!  ;D ;D
 Are you?....
 Here's the Wiki; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimping

BTW.. I turn off the review when shooting children and sports/action etc. and simply review when I get a chance and adjust only if needed..

I have switched off the auto preview on mine.  I do bring it up manually to check but once I know I am in the zone, I fire away with intermittent checks similar to your action system.

Like you, I am not usually hard pressed so can take the time to bring it up usually.

I think I am just a snob that refuses to look to impress the crowd ;D ;D

I would have to say yes ;D, I am a chimp but only initially when I am trying to perfect the exposure and settings for my cam or when the shooting environment changes ;) ;).  I must say though that in a larger crown I chimp less, but on an assignment such as youth sports (portrait work) I look at every image for expression, eyes, and smile.
