Having terrible trouble trying to set up ZC/G2 to allow downloads.

I've tried to follow this hxxp: tutorials. zen-cart. com/index. php?article=71 as far as possible but it doesn't cover the G2 integration so it doesn't provide all the answers.

In particular "Download files should be loaded to the /download directory" obviously does not apply since in the integrated version it ought to be automatically finding the files uploaded to G2.

It is still giving me the shipping options page, which according to that article means it is not set up correctly.

If I carry on nevertheless - using "cash on delivery" payment option to avoid messing about with sandbox paypal payments - I do end up at the checkout success page but there is no download link on it.

"On the Admin->Catalog->Attributes Controller you should see a green dot next to the filename of the Download itself" - I don't even see the filename of the download.

Would be great if you could provide some information to bridge the gap between that page and the requirements for the integrated setup.

Thanks.

ZC-G2 does not automatically allow downloads which is why the documentation doesn't mention this.

To sell downloadable items, you will have to manually manage them using the Zencart interface.

It is possible to recode ZCG2 to do this but it is somewhere very, very low down on my long list of priorities at this point in time and to be honest, is not likely to ever get done ... at least unless something changes the priority list.

I hope this provides you with enough information to proceed as appropriate.

Thanks for the reply.

Ouch.  That's no good - the project is for a technically inept client; the idea is that all they have to do is upload material using the simple G2 interface and it automatically appears for sale by download without further intervention.  If they have to work out the relative path from the ZC downloads directory to the file in the G2 image directory for every item uploaded, and then enter it by hand in the horribly complicated ZC admin section, it won't be viable.

Looks like I shall have to dive into the code myself then. . .  with the limited requirements of this particular project I ought to be able to hack something up, though it may well not be useful for the general case.  (If it is I'll post it. )

Thanks. . .

You could do a one time update of existing items into the ZC download folder and then make a small module that zips copies of new items and moves these to the downlaod folder.

I started working on a system that will zip up G2 files on the fly if requested in ZC but stuff intruded and not a current priority.

If you knock something up, post it and I'll look into incorporating it in.
