I did actually get it to the install stage once but then it gave me the
Install Not In Same Directory
error over and over again.

My gallery data folder is outside my gallery install if that helps.

OK, I looked into your post in a bit more detail and one thing stood out ... "plugins page reports 3. 3. 1a".

On following up, it turned out that the 3.3.1b files were actually still v3.3.1a which meant the bug was still there.  So I have uploaded v3.3.2 after fine tuning the fix.

So I think what has happened to you is that you got the 3.3.1a files wrongly labelled as 3.3.1b, tried to install and hit the admin check issue.  In other words , it installed as expected apart from stopping you at that check.

You then removed the installation somehow that messed up your database. I.E. You did not just use the "uninstall" feature and now when you are trying to to reinstall, you are getting the error.

You need to open your phpMyAdmin and look into the tables such as g2_PluginMap for instance and delete instances of zencart.
