I find scanning such a chore don't you?
I suppose it is from the scanning but ones gets the feeling there is a bit missing...can't put my finger on it though. Perhaps the bank or that the smoke could have a bit more depth / texture.
Really difficult to explain. I suppose I have gotten too used to the post pp digital look.
