Thanks Dayo, and yes it is a crop but still about 80% of the original "as shot image". Before resizing for this site it was at 2500x2000 (5mp)

I looked at this again and bumped up my rating. Really well lit. You wrote it was under direct sunlight but the lighting is so well controlled. Sure nothing was used? reflectors, screens??

No screens or reflectors, this was taken in a greenhouse at the St. Louis zoo, all clear glass. Some of the light diffusion may have been provided by the trees inside the greenhouse. If I had been able to set up a diffuser then maybe I could have minimized the hot spots on the flowers but that was not possible with the amount of traffic.
and thanks for bumping the rating

I'm not a big fan of Flower/Insect shots. Mainly because there are soooooo many of them! I've even taken a few myself. So it will be rare for me to comment on flower pics.
This is an exception due to the juxtaposition of the two elements and their contrasting colors, and the wonderful composition. A slightly adjusted focus point or maybe f/32 to bring the rear of the wings into sharper focus could have warranted a '9' rating.. Well done.
Gotta love the 'Beercan'!..
